HCD dances are in three main venues.  Please click on a venue for map and directions:

• American Legion Post - most contras, jam sessions, Cajun/zydeco dances, and swing jams
• West Hartford Town Hall - location of most swing dances
• South End Senior Center - location of most waltz events

American Legion Post, 275 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT

The American Legion Post is just minutes south of Hartford. Following the "Old Wethersfield / Motor Vehicle Department" signs will get you most of the way there.

From the north (Hartford):

• Take I-91 south to Exit 26
• Turn right at the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp, and immediately left onto Marsh Street
• Follow Marsh around to Main Street - The access road is quite long, initially paralleling I-91 south, and then veering right a couple times (landmark at Main is the flagpole / illuminated church steeple)
• Turn right on Main, and go one block to the American Legion Post (a white churchlike building on the left)

From the south (New Haven):

• Take I-91 north to Exit 26: At this point, you're about 1.5 miles from the Legion Post
• At the stop sign at the end of the ramp, turn left (Great Meadow Road)
• Stay on Great Meadow to the end: Go under Route 3, left at the next stop sign, straight through the stoplight, and finally under I-91 to the T intersection
• Turn left at the T intersection onto Marsh Street
• Follow Marsh around to Main Street - The access road is quite long, initially paralleling I-91 south, and then veering right a couple times (landmark at Main is the flagpole / illuminated church steeple)
• Turn right on Main, and go one block to the American Legion Post (a white churchlike building on the left)

West Hartford Town Hall, 50 South Main Street, W.Hartford, CT

• Take I-84 to Exit 43, Park Road (it's a LEFT exit when you're coming from the west)
• Turn left off the long exit ramp onto Park Road
• At the second light, turn right onto South Main Street
• At the West Hartford Town Hall sign, turn right into the Town Hall parking lot
• Enter through the pillared entryway on the Main Street side of the building
• NOTE:  Bring your parking ticket into the dance for validation
  

South End Senior Center, 70 Canterbury Street, East Hartford, CT

From the Hartford Area, and from Northeast Connecticut

• Take I-84 to Route 2 east (Exit 55 - heading toward Norwich)
• Take Route 2 about three miles to Exit 5C (Maple Street)
• At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Maple Street, taking Maple 2/10 miles east to the stop sign (Handel Road)
• Turn left onto Handel, taking Handel about 1/10 mile to the stop sign (Canterbury Street)
• Turn right onto Canterbury Street
• The Senior Center is 1/10 mile ahead, at the end of the street - Enter through the double doors on the right side of the building

From Southeast Connecticut (e.g., Norwich)

• Take Route 2 west to exit 5D ("Route 3 South Main St Glastonbury")
• Follow the ramp for 2/10 mile, taking the first exit toward Main Street
• At the end of the exit ramp, turn right on Putnam Boulevard (unmarked), heading east 1/10 mile to Main Street
• Turn left (north) at the light onto Main Street, going about 2/10 mile to the third light (Maple Street)
• Turn right onto Maple Street, and take Maple 2/10 miles east to the stop sign (Handel Road). 
  
• Turn left onto Handel, taking Handel about 1/10 mile to the stop sign (Canterbury Street)
• Turn right onto Canterbury Street
• The Senior Center is 1/10 mile ahead, at the end of the street - Enter through the double doors on the right side of the building
